So I'm a yo-yo dieter. So I'm currently obsessed with "diet" food products. So I'm confused about all these "Diet Meal Bars" out there.
Lately, whenever I go to the supermarket, I tend to dwell in the isles where they have all these diet products, diet bars, snacks and drinks. And I do go through each and every one of them almost everytime I'm there, examining the number of calories, nutrition they have, and their claims. I understand that many of these bars are intended to replace normal meals. And as the percentage of obesed American is sooooo high, these meal replacement bars of 200-300 calories are supposed to help them get rid of some of that fat. That's perfectly fine! But I'm confused!!
Why?! Why are all these meal replacement bars full of chocolate and sugar?!?!
I just can't understand!! Since when do we eat chocolate and sugar for lunch and dinner? And if these items are supposed to help people loose weight, why on earth are they filled with sugar? I can understand if it's a snack bar, because half the time, people have cravings for sweets during their snack time, but for a MEAL??? I really don't think so.
Can't we have some regular biscuit-like meal replacement bars that are high in fiber and protein that DOESN'T taste like desert?
I mean, most of my friends know that I have a bad eating habit. I like everything that is "bad-for-you" and I can't control my portions half the time. Worse of all, I like to alternate between salty and sweet food; especially when I start with sweet food. I have a reputation of wanting to go on eating salty food after eating sweet food, and then go back and have desert after my salty food. And it just repeats itself... However, if I start with salty food, the possiblity of me going back to eating more salty food after my desert is much lower.
I'm not sure if other people have the same problem as me, but, seriously, I know, for a fact, that if the replacement meal bars aren't all sweet and sugary, they'd be much lower in calorie, and probably more in volume; hence, more filling than the ones on the market right now.
